****************************************************************** README File for POPWeasel Version 2.0 (C) Copyright 1998/2004. Mailgate Ltd. All Rights Reserved. This document contains information regarding the fixes and enhancements for POPWeasel releases which supplements User's Guide and Online help. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.32 ( 14th December, 2005 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0244 - Changed POPWeasel to allow for very long message header lines. 1.2 Corrected a problem with 30 day evaluations terminating early. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.31 ( 26th August, 2004 ) ****************************************************************** 1.2 ENH0112 - Added a facility to turn off the message id check function. This check is intended to prevent multiple copies of the same message from being collected from the POP account where an ISP sorts copies into seperate POP mailboxes. This check can however be a disadvantage if the ISP does all the mail sorting and POPWeasel is used in a one to one type configuration. To turn off the check add the following registery setting:- Location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\7th Wave Software Ltd\Pop Weasel\Parameters Name - UniqueIDFilter Type - DWORD Data - 0 to turn off the check, 1 to turn on the check. Note - This setting should not normally be required. The default is 1. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.30 ( 16th June, 2004 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0227 - Fixed a problem where certain incorrectly formatted mail messages can cause POPWeasel to fail. The messages are generally spam and comprise a header but no body. Receiving one of these messages caused POPWeasel to terminate with a socket error. 1.2 ENH0111 - Added a facility to limit the number of messages collected in a POP session. Limiting the number of messages collected can be useful particularly where a POP account mailbox contains so many mails that maintaining a stable session to collect all the data is difficult. This option can not be used for collections configured to "leave messages on the server" and making any changes to the Weasel setup through the user interface will remove the setting. To enable the option add an entry into the registry key for the POP collection to which the limit should apply. Location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\7th Wave Software Ltd\Pop Weasel\Collection where is a number associated with each POP collection defined in POPWeasel. Name - MaxMessages Type - DWORD Data - The number of messages to collect per session. Note - This setting should not normally be required. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.29 ( 18th Mar, 2003 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0204 - Fixed a problem where the setting used to enable Authenticated SMTP sessions was not initialised with a default value. This could lead to arbitrary use of Auth Login. This problem disappears once a setting has been specified in the user interface. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.28 ( 15th Nov, 2002 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0191 - Fixed a problem where the SMTP session would fail if the server does not support EHLO. Also added a registry setting to allow for servers which fail if sent an EHLO. Location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\7th Wave Software Ltd\Pop Weasel\Parameters Name - SmtpDisableEhlo Type - DWORD Data - 1 to disable sending of EHLO. Default is 0. Note - This setting should not normally be required. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.27 ( 1st May, 2002 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 ENH0077 - Added SMTP Authenticated login when connecting to the target SMTP server and APOP & MSN authenticated login when connecting to a source POP3 account. 1.2 ENH0096 - Extended the uninstall routine to completely remove POPWeasel and all its components. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.26 ( 10th Oct, 2001 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 ENH0071 - When POPWeasel connects to the SMTP server it used a default machine name. Now uses the IP hostname. 1.2 SDR0124 - Corrected a further problem when an extraced address is empty. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.25 ( 29th June, 2001 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0122 - Incorrect output of email addresses that failed format validity checks. This is now corrected. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.24 ( 18th June, 2001 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 ENH0053 - If POPWeasel is set to collect mail through some third party POP "proxy" products, the required pop account settings could prevent POPWeasel from creating its UIDL listing file (used for managing collections when Leave Copy on Server is used). The file naming process is now changed to enable POPWeasel to now create this file correctly. 1.2 ENH0060 - Added a registry setting to specify where POPWeasel should create the log files. Location - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\7th Wave Software Ltd\Pop Weasel\Parameters Name - LogPath Type - String Data - Path to the logfile location. Note that this location must exist and POPWeasel must have rights to write data to it. 1.3 SDR0111 - A mail routing problem where different addresses are extracted from the Recvd * for * fields and later addresses fail filter checks, the correct address is not being used for forwarding. 1.4 SDR0112 - Corrected the connection termination sequence in the event of problems with the passing of data to the SMTP server. 1.5 SDR0113 - Corrected a problem with To/CC address routing when all extracted addresses fail filter checks. Also changed the address extraction process to correctly ignore data in " ". 1.6 SDR0119 - Changed the address extraction system to globally ignore any extract data not in the form of a valid email address. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0.22 ( 31st October, 2000 ) ****************************************************************** 1.1 SDR0066 - If a mail contains valid addresses in both the To: and Cc: routing fields, only the addresses from one of the header fields would be used. This is now fixed. 1.2 ENH0043 - Allow the use of a 'negated' mail address in the POP detail Address Filter Pattern entry. This allows the specified address to be excluded from acceptable domain(s) setting. See the online help for more information. ****************************************************************** Version 2.0 ( September, 2000 ) ****************************************************************** Welcome to this new major release of POPWeasel. To assist existing users here is a list of the key changes to the product and some notes on which settings should be reviewed after upgrading. LOG FILE VIEWING TOOL. POPWeasel now incorporates a flexible tool to view the system log files with. With options to filter the data and to continuously monitor log traffic, this addition makes the administration of a POPWeasel installation significantly easier. For full details on the use of the viewer, refer to the online help. MORE FLEXIBLE ROUTING PROCESS. Major changes to the set-up of the routing process means the POPWeasel can better accommodate all the variations in POP3 mail header found on the Internet. Users can now define exactly which header fields are to be accepted and also set the sequence in which the data should be reviewed. Before upgrading you MUST note any special routing settings you have made (see the POP Collection detail tab) and after the upgrade you should check the routing again, making any changes to suit your requirements. For full details on how to set-up the routing, refer to the online help. REVISED HELP SYSTEM The online help has been fully revised and expanded to include both the new features in the software and to add more hits and tips on using the POPWeasel. We hope you find it useful. ******************************************************************
